This morning it was pouring down rain. I rolled over to text messages, phone calls and emails. I looked at my daily list of task, took a moments pause, and hit snooze. There is no part of me that doesn’t love my day-to-day, but there is a part of everyone who wants to give up from time-to-time.
There are moments when my personal life gets a little too heavy, and my body simply can’t hold any more stress. Times when nothing seems right, and life had to have sent some of its troubles to the wrong door step. There are days when smiling feels impossible, but crying is what you were born to do.
These days are okay. Those moments of fear and destruction are meant to be had. Some times your fuel needs to be emptied. If a gas tank never needed to be filled then the car would sit there idle forever. What we have to remember is that in these times we need to place things into perspective.
Then again, I’m not fit to give advice on this… My life revolves around social media post. So, here is what I do when things get heavy:
1. Watch TV. I actually do this all the time, but it is especially important when the sky is falling down. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing more escaping than reading a book, but TV lets you be idle, and some times we need that.
2. Eat. Eat until you can’t eat any more. When people tell me they have lost their appetite over being sick or having a bad day it’s like they are speaking baby talk. I simply don’t understand it. For me food is comfort, and something I see no problem in endorsing on a bad day.
3. Just remember, you aren’t in high school. Think long and hard about the terrible hair cut you had (mine was above the ears and black). Think of all the boys who didn’t ask you out. But most of all, think of where you were compared to where you are now. You are doing great things, and living a great life. You are you and things happen on their own time.
